What is the email address for Listserv at IUPUI?
For emailing a listserv, it is listname@listserv.iupui.edu.
To send a listserv request, such as subscribe, use listserv@listserv.iupui.edu.
(Listserv commands are not case-sensitive.)
How do I send an email to my class?
The class officers act as moderators for each class listserv. To request that an announcement be sent to your class, contact your class officers. Specify whether the announcement should go to Indianapolis only, the Regional Centers only, or all students in your class year.
What are the names of the student lists?
This is a »list of class lists, super-lists, and specialty lists.
Who can email MD2B-EVENTS-L@LISTSERV.IUPUI.EDU?
Student leaders, including officers of SIGs and OMSL project leaders, as well as MSC officers, have posting privileges for MD2B-EVENTS-L and also to the Student Organizations calendar. Events that are posted to the listserv must also be posted to the calendar.
How can I target my email to the proper audience?
— See also the Targeting Table page.
Was your email distributed to the correct audience?
Listserv responds by email to each successful posting. The subject of Listserv's response begins with "Output of job."
LOOK AT THIS EMAIL. It tells how many people received your email! (If you don't see a number, it wasn't distributed.)
Targeting is now required for class listservs and MD2B-EVENTS-L, the events listserv. Without a target designation, your email will not be delivered.
To email Indianapolis students only, put “IN:” at the beginning of the subject line — for example IN: New study group!.
To email the Regional Centers excluding Indianapolis, include “CN:” at the beginning of the subject line — for example CN: New study group!. You must separate multiple designations with commas and end the list with a colon.
Each regional center now has its own two-letter designation:
BL,EV,FT,NW,LA,MU,SB,TH. In addition, IN is Indianapolis and CN (an abbreviation for "Centers") is a short-hand way to include all regional campus.
These designations can be applied to each of the class listservs and to the super-lists — MD2B and MD2B-EVENTS-L.
Each class year has a designation: MS1, MS2, MS3, MS4.
Target designations are ADDITIVE! This means that combinations never narrow the selection. EV, MS1: is interpreted as all Evansville students PLUS all first-year students (statewide).
INMS1 is a special designation for Indy first-year students only .
INMS2 is a special designation for Indy second-year students only .
These were created because of the high volume of email to those audiences.
What is MD2B-EVENTS-L and why do I get so much mail from it? Isn't there an events calendar?
MD2B-EVENTS-L is intended primarily to disseminate information about events sponsored by IUSM student organizations. If you are an officer of a student organization and would like sending access to the listserv, email mgray@iupui.edu.
If you would like to receive a daily digest of MD2B-EVENTS-L rather than individual emails or to receive no mail from this listserv, see the Events Options page for instructions.
If you would like to receive additional email for designations other than your current campus and class year, you can do so by subscribing directly to the super-list and selecting those "topics." (You are currently subscribed to a class list which feeds into the super-list.) For instructions, see the Events Options page.
Alternatively, you may choose to subscribe to the digest, which automatically includes all topics.
If you do not wish to receive mail from this listserv, you may select the NOMAIL options. See the Events Options page for instructions.
