Survival Guide — For those of you who are new to the area, the student-written Survival Guide is a valuable reference for getting settled in Indy. (See sections on "Finding the Basics" and "Food & Social.")
Printing subsidy — Part of the student technology fee at the IUSM–Indy campus is used to offset students’ printing costs. Third and fourth year students receive an allotment of 200 pages each. You can use your Jagtag (student ID) to print for free in the Medical Library and in MS016A.
When your subsidy is almost exhausted, notify Card Services to switch to your own funds. (The switch-over doesn’t happen automatically until you hit zero, and when it does, you could lose printing capability until the next morning.)
Technology Pages — For more about technology resources at IUSM, see the MSA technology pages.
USMLE licensing exams are coming up again, so remember to visit the USMLE website.
To practice, visit the IUSM USMLE Practice site.
And farther ahead... Step 2 CS: Hard-Won experience — Advise from a student who took the test multiple times, not an official guide
The Elective Program provides each student with the opportunity to select elective courses in areas of his/her interest. Fourth-year students take seven months of electives. Third-year students are eligible to take certain electives. All electives must be approved by your academic advisor.
To learn about the Elective Program, view the 2009-2010 Elective Book, IUSM's comprehensive publication about electives.
To get an idea of the locations of the electives and their enrollment capacities by month, see the 2009-2010 Electives Enrollments page of the Electives Book.
What electives can third-year students take? See
2009-2010 Electives Available to MS III Students.
When planning for your fourth year, the Level 3 Planning Guide will instruct you on how to achieve the three different Level 3 competencies required for graduation.
Three Core Clerkships are required for fourth-year students. See 2009/2010 Fourth Year Core Clerkships.
